Tucked in close to the rocky mountains,
surrounded by some of the finest fishing and hunting you will
find in southwest Montana lies Cedar Hills Taxidermy. John
Cargill has been doing taxidermy work for nearly 35 years
now and has mastered the art of recreating the majestic wildlife
found in this beautiful state, as well as many other species
of game.
John’s passion is to recreate the
animal he is working on so it is “as if they are breathing”.
The hours of dedicated time that he spends on these works
of art shows down to the finest detail. The eyes, the wrinkles
on the nose, and that distinct look the animal had while it
was alive is what John strives to provide.
Cedar Hills Taxidermy is a family operation
that also includes a full outfitting business as well. Iron
Wheel Guest Ranch is a year round operation that John and
his family take pride in. They provide a number of services
including horse pack trips, hunting, and fishing to name a
few. It is obvious that they love what they do and they provide
a tremendous opportunity to come out to southwest Montana,
enjoy their wonderful facilities, see some fantastic country,
and leave with a trophy of the highest quality.
Remember, John accepts most species of
game animals including: Elk, Whitetail Deer, Mule Deer, Antelope,
Black Bear, Grizzly, Moose, Mountain Lion, Bobcat, Small Game,
and Fish as well as many species not found in Montana. Full
Body mounts, rugs, specialty mounts, European mounts and shoulder
mounts are some of the options to name a few. John also creates
some very unique novelty pieces like Gun Racks ( made from
Deer, Antelope and Elk feet), Ashtrays ( made from Deer, Elk,
Antelope, and Bear Paws) Book Ends , and Lamps, all of which
can be created from your trophy.
