Very rarely do you find a wildlife artist with such passion and attention to detail as “Gus” Ken Senst has for his work. Whether it is a shoulder mount of a rocky mountain bull elk, or a lifesize mount of an Ibex, the attention to the finest detail is seen. Gus lives and works in Whitehall Montana, but has had the opportunity to study and recreate many animals not common to North America. African, Asian, and Exotic species are a common site in his shop, and most of them are lifesize. Beyond his award winning work that he has done on several whitetail, mule deer, elk, antelope and various other North American big game species, Gus has been recognized around the world as a top notch taxidermist for all game animals.

As you can see in the photos, his passion is to recreate a lifelike scene, common to the species he is mounting. All the bases and scenes are custom made, fit to order, and can be added to as your trophy room grows. “One thing I love to do is a “Grand Slam” mountain scene for my clients. I can build a mountain for their show room so that as my clients harvest their next trophy, I simply add that mount into the scene.” What Gus is talking about is a scene similar to this one in the Back ground. This 60’ X 60’ “mountain” was designed And built by Gus. In the foreground you see some of the work Gus does on African game.

This kind of custom work is rare. Gus works hard to make sure he is creating a piece of art that he and his clients are proud of.
